What is Kidon Media-Link? Kidon Media-Link is an independent site on the internet.
It tries to give a complete directory of newspapers and other news sources on the internet. It has received a number of favorable reviews on the internet and in the (Dutch) traditional media. According to Altavista over 2000 internet sites link to the Kidon Media-Link (July 2000).Kidon Media-Link is in no way responsible for the content of any of the listed media, it is only a gateway to the publications of others. We support free speech on and off the internet.
In June 1998, the newspapers were finally entered into a database. At present it still works off line, making ready-to-upload pages for the Kidon Media-Link, but in the future we hope to provide an on line database. The database made it possible to easily provide pages with newspapers in major languages. Other selection criteria are being considered.
In September 1999, Kidon finally moved to it's own address at http://www.kidon.com/media-link/ . Having a (virtual) server will make new categories and services possible. To pay for the extra costs, Kidon Media-Link decided to rent advertising space, and become an affiliate web site for different well known and reliable web sites.
Who are behind Kidon Media-Link?
In 1994 Kees van der Griendt, then a political science student at the University of Amsterdam, published some bookmarks from newspapers on the internet he had collected on his home page. He thought others might have some use for it. He kept finding and adding more and more newspapers to the list. In the first years, one page was enough for all the online newspapers from all over the world. Things have changed...

Nowadays he works as a web designer for a small company in Haarlem, the Netherlands.
During his study he sold newspapers at railway stations and in some of the bars of Amsterdam.
A somewhat related hobby is collecting newspaper titles from all over the world. they fill more than one wall at his home. Other interests include international politics, flags (isn't it obvious?), and atlases (he has about 30 of them). In 1996 Kees received an e-mail from Duncan Morrow, who sent some url's from papers that were missing in the Media-Link. He still keeps sending url's. Probably the majority of links at present are collected by him. Especially since he is almost completely responsible for the USA, Canada, Australia and the UK.
Duncan Morrow, a career information officer with extensive media contacts across the US, sought to build a single place assembling as many news-related sites as possible. His knowledge of the media and commitment to systematic web-surfing have helped him locate sites far beyond US borders. The computer programming and site design skills of one, media knowledge of the other, and shared interest of both, made this an obvious partnership between strangers who have never met or even spoken together. We welcome contributions and corrections as we strive to keep this the most complete and current news index available.
Many other individuals from all over the world also contribute to the Kidon Media-Link. Their additions and corrections are very much appreciated.
